Lemi: Diary for Kids

Last updated: September 28, 2026

Lemi is a diary that lives on your child’s device. Nothing your child writes, photographs, or records is ever sent to us. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no advertising, and no analytics. On iPhone and iPad, two optional features send a small amount of information to our server when your child uses them: asking for the sticker maker, and inviting friends. Both are described in full below, including what is sent, why, and how long we keep it.

Who we are

This policy covers the mobile app Lemi: Diary for Kids (“Lemi”, “the app”) on iOS and Android, and the website at lemi.3min.xin. In this policy “we” means the app’s developer, reachable at the address at the bottom of this page.

What stays on the device

Everything your child creates in Lemi is saved only in the app’s own private storage on the device, in the app’s local database on iOS and Android:

None of this is ever uploaded, synced to our server, or seen by us. On iOS, iCloud syncing is explicitly turned off in the app.

What Lemi never does

Lemi does not:

What reaches our server

Only the two optional features below talk to our server, and only on iPhone and iPad. Each one sends something only after your child taps to use it. The Android app sends nothing to us at all.

Asking for the sticker maker

The sticker maker, which cuts a sticker out of your child’s own photo, is unlocked by leaving Lemi a review on the App Store and sending us a screenshot of it, which somebody here reads. When the screenshot is sent, Lemi uploads:

The screenshot is stored on our server and emailed to the developer so it can be read. It is used for nothing else. We delete each record, along with its screenshots and the copy in our email, within 180 days of reading it.

Inviting friends

Your child can invite a friend to Lemi with a short invite code. When the friend joins with it, each of them can choose a sticker pack. Lemi has no accounts, so to tell who invited whom it keeps:

So that one device can’t join again and again, Lemi also asks for a one-time token from Apple’s DeviceCheck service. We pass it straight back to Apple, which keeps a single “has joined before” mark for the device. The token identifies neither the device nor your child to us, and we don’t store it.

Sharing an invite uses the device’s own share sheet. Lemi never sees who the message is sent to, and the link in it only opens our invite page. We keep invite records for as long as the feature runs, so rewards can be restored, and we delete one on request (see below).

Our website and server logs

The pages at lemi.3min.xin, including the page an invite link opens, use no cookies, analytics, or trackers. The invite page copies the code to the clipboard only when the button is tapped. Like almost every web server, ours keeps a short-lived access log for security and to fix problems: the IP address, time, and page requested. These logs are deleted after 30 days.

Photos

When your child adds a photo, Lemi opens the operating system’s own photo picker. Only the pictures your child specifically chooses are handed to the app; Lemi never gets access to the rest of the photo library, and it does not read photo metadata such as location for any purpose of its own. Chosen photos are copied into the app’s private storage and stay there. Cutting a sticker out of a photo is done on the device by Apple’s built-in image recognition. The photo is never uploaded.

Microphone, camera, and speech

On iPhone and iPad, a diary page can be an audio or video diary. Lemi asks for the microphone only when your child starts a recording, and for the camera only when they film a video — the system shows its own permission prompt first, and nothing is recorded without it. Recordings and videos are saved only in the app’s private storage on the device, and are never uploaded to us.

Lemi can also write down what was said in a recording, using Apple’s speech recognition, which has its own permission prompt. Whenever the device can recognize a language by itself, Lemi requires the words to be worked out on the device. For a language the device cannot recognize on its own, the recording is sent to Apple to be turned into text, under Apple’s Privacy Policy; it never reaches us.

You can turn off Lemi’s access to the microphone, camera, or speech recognition at any time in the device’s Settings; the rest of the diary keeps working.

Handwriting styles

Some of the handwriting styles on iPhone and iPad are fonts that Apple provides with the system. The first time one is chosen, the device downloads it from Apple. Nothing about the diary is sent, and it never reaches us.

Lemi Plus subscription

Lemi Plus is an optional subscription. It is bought, paid for, renewed, and cancelled entirely through Apple’s App Store, under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We never see payment details or who bought it: the app only asks Apple, on the device, whether a Lemi Plus subscription is active. You can turn off in-app purchases for a child’s device with Screen Time, or ask Apple to require a parent’s approval with Ask to Buy.

Device backups

Because the diary is a normal part of the app’s storage, it may be included in the backups your device already makes — iCloud Backup on iOS, or Google’s Backup & Restore on Android. Those backups are handled by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies and their own account settings; we have no access to them. You can turn app backups off in your device settings.

Children’s privacy

Lemi is made for children, and we keep what reaches us to the minimum the two features above need. We never ask for a child’s name, age, email, or location, and we never use what we receive for advertising, profiling, or anything other than running those features. We do not sell or rent it to anyone. We don’t share it either, except with the service providers listed below, who hold it on our behalf.

A screenshot of an App Store review can show the reviewer’s App Store nickname, so we ask that a parent write the review and send the screenshot. If you believe we hold something about your child that you would like removed, write to us and we will delete it.

Our practices are intended to comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including its provisions for children, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and Apple’s and Google’s policies for apps aimed at children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Lemi changes how it handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the new version is released. If a change were ever to involve collecting more personal information from children, we would ask for verifiable parental consent first.
